In October, National Security Month is celebrated for the 11th time in Norway. The theme for this year's campaign is “A safe digital everyday life”, with the goal of contributing to a safer digital everyday life for businesses and the population. 

Digital security is about both preventing things from going wrong and managing the damage when it occurs. Various types of fraud, ransomware, account takeover, and identity theft are some of the most common incidents experienced by individuals and businesses. With increased digitalization and use of home offices, it is more important than ever to have knowledge of how to avoid digital attacks. 

Important to be prepared

NorSIS coordinates National Security Month every year on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. This is part of the EU's information security agency ENISA's annual European Security Month. With National Security Month, NorSIS aims to highlight what can be done to protect oneself and the workplace against unwanted events and attacks. Knowing what to do when affected is important in order to limit the impact. 

Course in digital first aid

During the campaign period, it is possible to participate in events, courses, and other activities related to the topics of “Digital first aid” and “Be secure”. The training provides valuable knowledge in digital security so that one knows how to protect the business, and what actions must be taken when the damage has occurred. It turns out that most IT security breaches are related to users. Therefore, it is especially important to have good training on what a good security culture is and what a typical attack might look like.
